Voyages to the Sun

Jesus Mary Joseph Sr. Sec. School conducted an activity ‘Voyages to the Sun’ on 31 January 2023 for students of classes IX and XI

No human has ever attempted to travel to the Sun. The main reason is fairly obvious—it’s too hot. Even in a well-protected spacecraft, you could only get within about 2 million kilometres before burning up.

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe is on a mission to “touch the Sun.” The spacecraft is flying closer to the Sun’s surface than any spacecraft before it. The mission will revolutionize our understanding of the Sun. Parker will fly more than seven times closer to the Sun than any spacecraft.

Students participated enthusiastically in this enriching and highly informative activity, conducted under the guidance of Ms. Sharmila R Nair.
